The final defense of master’s thesis, entitled “Improving the performance of steam production in conical cavity receivers using a Fresnel lens,” by Wasim Kazem Falih was taken place in the campus of mechanical engineering department at Kerbala University.
The goal of the project is to increase the solar steam production system’s productivity and efficiency by implementing glass covers, cone cavity receivers, and Fresnel lenses in both linear and point types. According to the results, adding a glass cover and a linear Fresnel lens increases steam production and efficiency by up to 37.4%. Additionally, there is a 43.9% increase in thermal efficiency and steam production when glass covers and a point Fresnel lens are used.
The thesis was approved by the discussion committee, which consisted of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Wahab Kazem / College of Engineering – Kerbala University (chairman), Assistant Professor Dr. Raouf Mohammad Radi / College of Engineering – University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (member) and Assistant Professor Dr. Haidernazem Aziz / College of Engineering – Karbala University (member), Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Hasan Abboud/College of Engineering – University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (member) and finally Farhan Rasheed Lafita – College of Engineering (member and advisor).
